| BEACH PANEL & CONTROLS, INC. TAKES ITS TECHNOLOGY TO A NEW LEVEL CHESAPEAKE, Va. - (Feb. 2007) – Over the past several years, Beach Panel & Controls, Inc. (BP&C) has specialized in developing, installing and maintaining access-control perimeter security systems for Military Sealift Command (MSC) vessels (non-combatant ships crewed by civilian mariners that transport supplies and equipment for the U.S. Navy). The computer-based Shipboard Security Modules (SSMs) are engineered to enhance and expand the ability to detect and alarm crew of unauthorized boarding or tampering with secure areas. The SSM allows crew members to monitor selected locations simultaneously throughout the ship. The fully-integrated system works on multiple touch screens that combine real-time video surveillance, alarms at points of entry, hull perimeter lighting and audible warning systems to alert the crew of encroachments and unauthorized breaches. All components are recorded to provide a complete alarm history. The shipboard security modules are viewed as an effective way to expand security capabilities of ships that generally require smaller crews than most military vessels, thereby reducing manning and watch stander requirements. BP&C has also begun to support the commercial marine industry with these types of security systems that are in full compliance with the International Ship and Port Security code. Recently, BP&C has risen to a new level of technology by developing the Intrusion Detection System (IDS). BP&C utilized the same proven technology developed for the SSM system in creating the IDS. The primary function of the IDS is to arm selectable spaces on ships with a specialized alarm system for controlled entry, and capture an alarm event using video surveillance. The IDS notifies alarm monitoring stations when an alarm has occurred and provides a view of the video file, allowing the monitor to make an immediate assessment. The IDS is expandable, as well, to incorporate additional switches and cameras. Beach Panel & Control’s Intrusion Detection System is currently the only system to comply with the requirements of OPNAVINST 5530.13C (Department of the Navy Physical Security Instruction) for Conventional Arms, Ammunition, and Explosives (AA&E) on board vessels. It is important to BP&C to follow the specific AA&E requirements to insure our IDS system accurately meets national defense security standards. In recent months, BP&C has engineered, designed, and installed IDS systems on board multiple MSC vessels with great success. Beach Panel & Controls, Inc. designs and manufactures automated electrical control panels and maritime security products. The company has provided quality engineered electrical control systems, consulting services and security products to the government and commercial industries since 1995. The company is family-owned and headquartered in Chesapeake, Va. The location in Hampton Roads provides proximity to one of the largest military complexes on the East Coast and one of the largest ports in the U.S. For more information, visit www.beachpanels.com. 912 Ventures Way, Chesapeake, VA 23320 PHONE: (757) 312-0574, FAX: (757) 312-0674 EMAIL: info@beachpanels.com |
